Call for Submissions: Edited Collection of Essays on Camp

The editors of Sontag and Beyond: New Perspectives on the Camp Aesthetic seek manuscripts on current cultural interpretations of Camp in recognition of the 50th anniversary of Susan Sontag’s influential and groundbreaking essay “Notes on Camp.”  The collection is under contract with a major publisher with an intended publication date of late 2016 or early-2017.  The editors’ goal is to assemble a solid collection of essays about Camp from historical, theoretical, and cultural perspectives. The anthology will embrace a wide variety of subject areas that could include Camp icons, the historical implications of Camp readings and performances, as well as multicultural approaches to Camp across the globe in both current past adaptations. The editors welcome contributions from both established and emerging scholars.

Submissions should be in the range of 5,000 to 7,500 words and should include in-text references and a works cited list, which should be prepared in accordance with the Chicago Manual of Style’s author-date system (http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html). Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions for use of any copyright material included in their submissions. First draft manuscripts will be due April 15, 2016.  We expect preliminary acceptance decisions and instructions for revision to be distributed June 1, 2016.  Revised drafts will be due July 15, 2016.  Please submit manuscripts with author identification on the title page only, along with a brief biography of 75-100 words, to Bruce E. Drushel, Ph.D., atdrushebe@miamioh.edu.  Authors must certify their manuscripts are original work and not under consideration by another publication outlet.  Inquiries may be addressed to the co-editors, Brian M. Peters, Ph.D., (brimpeters@gmail.com) or Bruce E. Drushel, Ph.D., (drushebe@miamioh.edu).
